Error 531

Error 531 is a rare error that usually indicates a system issue or conflict preventing software activation. There is unfortunately no direct resolution for this error.


First, please ensure your computer supports Smaart's minimum system requirements. We cannot support activating Smaart on unsupported hardware or operating system versions.


Some troubleshooting steps to try are:

  • Uninstall any programs that were installed prior to the error occurring
  • Disable any services that may be interfering with the system clipboard or hotkeys
  • Check with your IT department to ensure there are no security services or computer configuration settings that may be blocking Smaart's licensing system
  • Create a new user account. If Smaart can be opened with the new account, then this may indicate a corrupt user profile or other system issue, and we recommend reinstalling or repairing the operating system, especially if other programs are affected
  • Install Smaart on another computer. If necessary, you can manually disable Smaart on the computer experiencing Error 531 by following the steps in this article so you can use it on a different computer.


If you are unable to resolve the error by trying the steps above, please generate a system report and submit a ticket with the report attached.
