Errors 553 and -199
Errors 553 and -199 occur when the license has become corrupt due to a "desynchronization" between the activation server and your local Smaart installation. This may occur when Smaart is deactivated prior to an operating system upgrade, hardware change, or the use of imaging and cloning software such as Time Machine or Acronis True Image.
This error cannot be resolved by the user, and you must email us to get activated again. Be sure to keep Smaart activated unless you are retiring the computer. We have some documentation on the proper use of imaging software--though Smaart does not fully support it. Please see our article on Time Machine, imaging and cloning here.
